Crude Intentions

Spring (March – May)

The spring months bring excellent migration patterns through Port Canaveral’s offshore waters, with prime opportunities for mahi-mahi, blackfin tuna, sailfish, and kingfish. Cobia make their annual run during this season, providing exciting sight-fishing opportunities, while tripletail can be found around floating debris and weed lines. Spanish mackerel become increasingly active as water temperatures rise, and red snapper season typically opens during late spring, offering excellent bottom fishing action.

Summer (June – August)

Summer offers some of the most diverse fishing of the year, with nighttime swordfish charters producing exceptional deep-drop action in the dark hours. Daytime trips yield consistent catches of mahi-mahi, wahoo, and various tuna species including yellowfin and blackfin, while the warm waters keep the bite active throughout the long summer days. Amberjack prowl the wrecks and reefs, tripletail continue to appear around floating structure, and Spanish mackerel provide fast-paced action for anglers of all skill levels.

Fall (September – November)

Fall fishing brings cooler water temperatures that trigger aggressive feeding behavior, creating spectacular opportunities for king mackerel, sailfish, wahoo, and amberjack around offshore structures. This transitional season often produces some of the year’s best action as fish prepare for winter months and feed heavily during the comfortable autumn conditions. Spanish mackerel schools thicken along the coast, while tripletail remain available around buoys and debris throughout the season.

Winter (December – February)

Winter marks peak sailfish season in our waters, offering world-class billfish action alongside quality catches of kingfish and blackfin tuna. Our deep-drop excursions remain highly productive during these cooler months, targeting snowy grouper, golden tilefish, and barrelfish in the depths, while nearshore tuna fishing continues to deliver consistent blackfin tuna opportunities. Amberjack remain active on deeper wrecks and reefs, providing strong fights for anglers willing to battle these powerful fish in cooler conditions.
